The Universe is a pretty big place. At the Institute for Computational Cosmology (ICC) at Durham University, we are trying to better understand our Universe by using state-of-the-art simulations of how the Universe and galaxies like our own form and evolve. We address some of the most fundamental questions in science: What were the first objects in the Universe? How do galaxies form? What is the nature of dark matter and dark energy? Where does the large-scale structure of the Universe come from? What is the fate of the Universe? This website will give you an overview of the research we do at the ICC, and how we are trying to answer some of those questions.
